One More Book lets you photograph a real picture book, record yourself reading it, and hand the phone to a child who can tap the cover and hear you — at bedtime, in the car, or on a night when you are not there.
Onto your own device, and — if you switch iCloud on in Settings — into your own iCloud Drive, which only you can open. They are never sent to the developer or to anyone else. You can find the whole folder yourself in the Files app and copy it anywhere you like.
Recordings move between devices only when “Keep books in iCloud” is switched on, in Settings, and you are signed in to the same iCloud account on both devices with iCloud Drive turned on. If it was off on the old phone, the recordings are still in that phone’s backup — restoring that backup brings them back.
The first six books are free. One purchase of $2.99 unlocks as many books as you like, forever — there is no subscription. Adding another person’s voice to a book you already have is always free, and nothing you have already recorded ever stops working.
Open Settings in the app and tap Restore a previous purchase. The purchase is tied to your Apple Account, so it follows you — and it is shared with your family through Family Sharing.
Yes, and this is a feature of iOS rather than of this app, so it is properly locked. Open the iOS Settings app, go to Accessibility, then Guided Access, and switch it on. Set a passcode there. Then open One More Book and triple-click the side button. Triple-click again and enter the passcode to let them out.
Yes. The same app runs on iPhone and iPad, and the shelf and playing screen lay themselves out for the larger screen.
No, and that is the point. There is no synthetic voice and no stock narration. The only voice a child ever hears is one of yours.
A question, a problem, or an idea for the app — all welcome.
